Privacy

The short version

The West Campus Integrity Index is a static, read-only website. There is nothing to log into and nothing to buy. We run no advertising, we do not sell or share data about visitors, and we do not build profiles of who reads which building's record. We do run one privacy-respecting analytics tool, described below, to count anonymous visits. The only personal information we ever hold is what you choose to email us.

Cookies & analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own and includes no advertising pixels, social-media widgets, or session recorders. The typefaces are self-hosted, so even loading the page makes no request to an outside font or content network.

We do use PostHog, a third-party product-analytics service, to count how the site is used. We have deliberately configured it to collect as little as it can while still answering one question: are people finding these records, and do they click through to the city's own sources? Specifically, it is set so that it:

• sets no cookies: a single anonymous id is kept in your browser's local storage instead;
• records no sessions: session replay and heatmaps are turned off, so no one can watch a recording of your visit;
• builds no person profiles: profile creation is disabled, and we never ask who you are, so there is nothing to attach a history to;
• honours Do Not Track: if your browser sends that signal, nothing is collected at all.

What it does record is a page view when you open a page, and a click event when you click something: most usefully, whether readers follow our links out to the City of Austin's own case records. Those events carry your browser and operating system, your screen size, the page you came from, and a coarse location derived from your IP address (typically the city). PostHog processes this on our behalf in the United States; see PostHog's privacy policy. To switch it off entirely, enable Do Not Track in your browser or use any content blocker. The site works identically without it.

Our host, Cloudflare, may set a single strictly-necessary security cookie if it needs to confirm a request is not automated abuse. That cookie exists to keep the site online; it carries no advertising or cross-site tracking function, and it is set by the infrastructure, not by us. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

What is collected in the course of serving the page

To deliver any website, the host has to receive the request. Cloudflare, as our content delivery network and host, processes standard technical data (your IP address, browser user-agent, and the time of the request) to route and protect the connection. We do not have per-visitor access to these logs, we do not join them to anything, and we do not use them to identify or track individuals.

Email you send us

If you email a correction, a tip, or a question, we receive your email address and whatever you write. That message is handled through Google's Gmail. We use it only to respond to you and to check the record you raised against the primary sources on file. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not use your message for any unrelated purpose. If you ask us to delete your correspondence, we will, unless we need to keep it to document a change we made to a public record.

Records about people

This index republishes public records about businesses and properties (code complaints, appraisal-roll ownership, corporate-registration filings), not private profiles of residents. We deliberately strip and never publish the names of individual city inspectors or leasing employees. Where a public record happens to name an individual (for example, an officer listed in a corporate filing), we keep that in our source receipts and do not surface it on public pages. If you believe a page reveals personal information it should not, use the correction channel below and we will review it.

Children

This site is intended for prospective tenants and the general public. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and rights

Because we build no profiles, there is no account or history for us to hand you a copy of. To stop the anonymous analytics described above, turn on Do Not Track or use a content blocker; to clear the anonymous id already in your browser, clear this site's local storage. Texas residents have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and visitors elsewhere may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. Our practices already align with the strongest of these: we do not sell personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not process sensitive data. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before the change takes effect. We said we would say so plainly here first, and this is that: on 23 July 2026 we added the cookie-free analytics described above, having run none at all before that date. If a future change would involve tracking individuals across sites, building profiles, or recording sessions, it will be announced here first too.
